Simple Tips For Healthy Living

Healthy living is more than daily habits, it’s a lifestyle. Whether you’re trying to eat a balanced diet, find a new fitness routine, or live a happy life. These simple routines will aid you.

TAKE STOCK


Your first step to healthy living is to take in to account your current health status.

  1. Make appointments with your doctor and take the opportunity to ask them any questions you might have.

  2. Measure your height and weight to check your BMI, and find out if you’re overweight or underweight.

  3. Assess your physical activity

  4. Keep a food journal and write down everything you eat for a day. (do this without judgement. You can’t change what you are unaware of or what you don’t acknowledge.

  5. Check your mood and energy. Healthy living includes emotional wellness as well as physical wellness.

  6. Consider your social network. How strong is your relationship with your family and friends?

 

PUT OUT FIRES

If you know that you have chronic health issues, whether its heart disease, diabetes, depression, arthritis, or other conditions, treatment is an obvious priority for healthy living. The same goes for poor habits such as smoking, and addictions of any kind.

 

MOVE MORE

  1. Make it fun. Go on a hike, take a walk with friends, take a yoga class or belly dancing or karate class or whatever you enjoy.

  2. Keep track of it. Set a weekly goal for activity.

  3. Work activity into your day.

 

UPGRADE YOUR DIET.

  1. Choose a low carb diet. Avoid starchy foods like rice, bread, yam etc

  2. Eat only when hungry

  3. Eat good and healthy foods, avoid junk.

  4. Avoid beer and all alcoholic drinks

  5. Avoid artificial sweeteners.

  6. Eat more fruits and vegetables

  7. Eat less dairy products

  8. Slow down and savour your meals, don’t rush the food and avoid multitasking while eating, you are more likely to feel psychologically satisfied if you don’t multitask while eating.

  9. Drink lots of water. (3-4 times daily).


SLEEP BETTER

  1. Go to bed early. Avoid staying up late.

  2. No TV or computer at least an hour before bedtime

  3. Take a hot bath before bed.

  4. Prioritize good sleep

 

MANAGE STRESS

  1. Develop positive coping skills such as meditation and look for activities such as yoga or exercise to keep you baseline stress level in check.

  2. Find ways to handle stressful situations

  3. Helping to meet other people’s needs may make your own problems seem smaller.

  4. Keep a gratitude journal. Write down the positive people, events and things that you’re are thankful for. Most times stress is caused by wishing things were different than they are now.

IMPROVE YOUR RELATIONSHIP

Healthy living isn’t just about diet and activity. It is also about your connection with other people.

  1. Look for people like you. People with similar level of openness. Their life details don’t have to match yours.

  2. Spend time with people.

  3. Build both virtual and face-to-face relationships.

  4. Avoid toxic relationships. If a close relationship is painful, get help.
